Fall 2025 Lecture Laboratory Upper DivisionFundamentals of GIS analysis applied to environmental, agricultural, and engineering-related problems. Topics include data sources, spatial analysis; projections; creating data and metadata, and conceptualizing and solving spatial problems using GIS.
Learning Outcomes1Apply fundamental geographic information system concepts for organizing, symbolizing, and visualizing spatial and temporal data.
2Demonstrate proficiency with spatial data manipulation methods for creating and editing geodatabases, geocoding, and performing geoprocessing operations on spatial data.
3Apply spatial analysis tools to process vector and raster data for decision-making.
4Create models to automate GIS workflow and build custom geoprocessing tools.
5Construct user-friendly dashboards/web apps/StoryMaps for sharing developed solutions.
6Research publicly available GIS data and use it for the final project or demonstrate Python programming skills to analyze publicly available data.
