Fall 2026 Studio Upper DivisionStudents will study and perform selected works for cello or bass in studio class setting, exploring a wide range of styles and genres. The instructor will demonstrate key aspects of lower string performance and provide guidance in both one-on-one and group settings. Regular in-class performances are required. Permission of department required.
Learning Outcomes1Articulate major/minor scales, arpeggios and other musical patterns.
2Develop lower string dexterity and technical facility through assigned studies and exercises.
3Describe stylistic characteristics of repertoire from various historical periods.
4Explain phraseology, articulation, and dynamics.
5Demonstrate selected musical repertoire in a live performance setting.
