Fall 2026 LectureThis course will introduce basic principles of research design and quantitative methods for academic research in political science. These tools will help students to construct thoughtful research designs and analyze data in their own research areas and to become critical consumers of statistical claims made in academic research. Permission of department is required.
Learning Outcomes1Explain basic principles of research design, causal inference, and statistical inference.
2Evaluate the research methods in academic research papers critically.
3Demonstrate the ability to use basic features of a programming language to organize and analyze data using statistical methods.
