An in-depth study of specific prototyping laboratory requirements related to safety is covered. Management skills related to equipment and supplies are addressed. The course also demonstrates how to safely teach prototyping activities and concepts in a laboratory environment.
Learning Outcomes1Develop techniques for planning and organizing prototyping tools, supplies, and equipment for efficient laboratory/makerspace operation.
2Explain the importance of safety in prototyping/makerspace facilities and prescribed methods of rendering facilities safe for learning activities.
3Describe government requirements and mandates related to prototyping laboratories and makerspaces.
4Develop a system for inventory, purchase, and maintenance of equipment and supplies for a prototyping/makerspace facility.
5Create plans for safely teaching prototyping skills and concepts in a laboratory environment.
