Fall 2026 Lecture Laboratory Upper DivisionAdvanced exploration of strategically applied and thoughtfully justified human-centered design methods. Students learn how to apply advanced human-centered research techniques to critical design problems and explore the various benefits and limitations of specific design methods in context. Students utilize visual, information, and usability principles as well as various approaches and methods of human-centered design to create interactive digital prototypes.
Learning Outcomes1Conduct advanced qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis techniques to inform design decisions.
2Understand how different methodological choices influence the design process and evaluate how to make appropriate and effective methodological choices.
3Demonstrate robust comprehension and execution of visual and interaction design principles by using advanced prototyping techniques to create interactive prototypes.
4Produce effective, research and evidence-based justifications for design decisions.
5Articulate the benefits and limitations of various design approaches to a particular project's goals and outcomes.
