Fall 2026 Distance Learning LectureThis course provides a comprehensive overview of functional behavior assessment (FBA) within the context of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Students will learn to conduct both indirect and direct assessments to identify environmental influences and hypothesized functions of behavior. Using assessment data, students will develop behavior intervention plans that incorporate evidence-based practices and consider individual learner contexts. The course also emphasizes strategies to enhance intervention effectiveness, including techniques for promoting stimulus control, generalization, and maintenance. Learning is supported through a combination of exams and applied assignments designed to build practical and analytical skills.
Learning Outcomes1Explain the purpose and components of functional behavior assessment (FBA) within behavior analytic practice.
2Conduct indirect and direct assessments to gather information about behavior and environmental influences.
3Summarize assessment findings to identify potential functions of behavior.
4Develop behavior intervention plan based on assessment data, evidence-based practices, and learner contexts.
5Apply strategies to enhance the effectiveness of interventions, including techniques for promoting stimulus control, generalization and maintenance.
