Fall 2026 Lecture Upper DivisionThis course is an exploration of the theories, research, and practice of mindfulness, self-compassion, and compassion for others and their roles in personal and interpersonal wellbeing. Emphasis is on how to integrate practical skills to daily life to benefit professional and personal goals, apply your knowledge to varied contexts, and support resilience in yourself and others. Basic components of how to interpret research findings and consider future directions of study will be discussed and perspectives will include Western psychology and Eastern philosophies.
Learning Outcomes1Synthesize theory, practice, and research of mindfulness, self-compassion, and compassion for others from Western and Eastern perspectives.
2Apply evidence-informed practices and analyze effects on holistic wellbeing, resilience, and professional and personal goals.
3Recognize and explain the importance and utility of mindfulness and compassion skills in a range of contexts.
