Fall 2026 Lecture Upper DivisionThis course will provide students with observation in various Strength and Conditioning settings. Students will establish a mentor with at least one site. Students may choose to pursue observations in various athletic environments, such as collegiate strength and conditioning, high school strength and conditioning, private athletic development organizations, professional sports, etc. Permission of department required.
Learning Outcomes1Observe certified strength and conditioning practitioner interactions and athlete-centered care.
2Demonstrate basic skills related to strength and conditioning in the field (i.e., coaching techniques, exercise and training prescription, athlete assessment/screening, communicating/collaborating with sport coaching and athletic training staff, etc.).
3Describe how skills and content learned in previous courses can be applied to a sports performance setting.
4Explain current best practices and scope of practice necessary in their clinical setting.
5Model the behaviors and skills appropriate to the profession and clinical setting.
