Fall 2026 Lecture Laboratory Lower Division
This course provides an in-depth study of herbaceous perennials, native perennials, and annuals used in horticulture. Students will develop proficiency in plant identification, classification, and nomenclature while also exploring ecological roles, cultural requirements, and landscape applications. The course integrates practical knowledge of maintenance, and sustainable landscape design using these plants.
Learning Outcomes1Identify 268 herbaceous perennials, native perennials, and annuals by botanical and common names.
2Understand plant classification systems and nomenclature rules.
3Recognize key morphological characteristics used in plant identification.
4Apply plant selection knowledge for landscape and ecological applications.
