Fall 2026 Lecture Upper DivisionThe Defense Civilian Training Corps (DCTC) was established to develop a modernized, multidisciplinary civilian talent pipeline for the Department of Defense (DoD). DCTC provides the targeted education, development, and experiences required to meet current and future complex demands on the DoD workforce. The goal is to foster a continuous and increasing stream of multidisciplinary cleared talent directly from the higher education system into the DoD civilian workforce. Permission of instructor required.
Learning Outcomes1Analyze the fundamental national security mission and objectives: Why are we here?
2Identify and analyze DoD culture, strategic drivers, concerns, and challenges.
3Evaluate the decomposition into communities and their roles, responsibilities, authorities, and equities.
4Recognize the DoD relationships with various communities including allies, defense industry, academia, and intelligence.
5Evaluate how communities differ and how those differences can cooperate (or not!) to support national security.
6Evaluate the impact of cooperation with various communities on the acquisition process.
7Demonstrate functionality in a team setting, thinking 'out of the box', taking risks and innovating.
