Spring 2026 LectureThe course will describe techniques for diagnosing organizations and interventions for improving organizations. Specific interventions will be examined in detail including structural interventions (e.g., organizational design, job design), interpersonal process interventions (e.g., process consultation, team building), and human resource interventions (e.g., performance management, career development). The course will attempt to both build knowledge and provide practice in the various techniques.
Learning Outcomes1Understand the basics principles of the theory and practice of OD.
2Gain familiarity with the different types of OD interventions, including detailed real-world examples.
3Introduce the specific OD techniques (or methodologies) and get practice applying some of the techniques.
4Appreciate the importance of an OD practitioner perspective in understanding and implementing OD.
