Spring 2026 Lecture Upper DivisionWhat does it truly mean to "work well"? From burnout and physical exhaustion to lack of motivation and meaning in their work, to not feeling socially connected to others - there are many factors that can influence the extent to which employees feel like they are able to thrive at work and at home. In this course, we will explore individual; relational/dyadic; organizational; and community influences on working well by diving into the common challenges employees' face in their daily work, both in managing their well-being and the well-being of others as leaders, coworkers, and community members. Together we will work towards identifying solutions to challenges that influence our ability to work well based on the scientific evidence.
Learning Outcomes1Identify key definitions and theories of well-being at work and at home.
2Distinguish antecedents of well-being at work and home stemming from individual, relational, organizational, and community-level factors.
3Analyze data for "intervention points" to help offer improved support and programs for employees' well-being.
4Plan habits or routines that promote your well-being at work and at home.
