Spring 2026 Lecture Lower DivisionThis course provides elementary education majors with a comprehensive understanding of the critical role health and physical education play in the overall development of young learners. Students will explore how physical activity and health education contribute to cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth. The course emphasizes the importance of integrating movement and health topics such as personal safety, nutrition, and emotional health into the elementary classroom to enhance academic performance, promote wellness, and develop lifelong healthy habits. Through a blend of theory, practical strategies, and hands-on activities, students will learn to design inclusive, developmentally appropriate physical education lessons and comprehensive school health education (CSHE) plans that cater to diverse learners. By the end of the course, students will be equipped to create engaging, safe, and supportive environments that foster both physical well-being and academic success.
