Spring 2026 Distance Learning Upper Division
This course provides an overview of the role of tech diplomacy in international relations and foreign policy, focusing on how emerging technologies can disrupt global power structures and create both risks and opportunities. Students will study core theories, analyze case studies, and develop skills in applied research and communication.
Learning Outcomes1Define and summarize the key features of tech diplomacy, including its principles and goals.
2Explain the relationships between emerging technology, globalization, international relations, and foreign policy.
3Research, analyze, and communicate information about emerging threats and opportunities in fields of emerging technology, and develop strategies for addressing them by applying the principles and practices of tech diplomacy.
