Spring 2026 Laboratory Lecture Departmental CreditUpper DivisionThis course explores the impact of cloud-based technologies on managing construction projects with Building Information Modeling (BIM), emphasizing remote collaboration and real-time data access. Students will gain hands-on experience with industry-leading platforms like Autodesk Construction Cloud, learning to manage 3D discipline-specific models, coordinate teams, and oversee project workflows from any location. By integrating cloud-based management with BIM, the course prepares students to lead modern, digitally connected construction projects.
Learning Outcomes1Manage construction projects using cloud-based BIM tools, enabling real-time collaboration, data sharing, and communication among group members as well as sponsors.
2Coordinate multidisciplinary teams remotely, integrating project data from design to construction while ensuring seamless collaboration.
3Master cloud-based technology to leverage data analytics that optimize construction workflows, which allow them to make informed decisions, and automate project processes for improved efficiency and reduced risk generating automated reports, and track key metrics such as timelines, budgets, and safety.
4Apply best practices in data management within cloud-based BIM platforms, ensuring secure storage, version control, and efficient risk management through clash detection and issue resolution.
