Winter 2025 Distance Learning Lower DivisionThis course covers the fundamentals of data use and analysis. Students will acquire these skills using a common business suite application for data handling. Students will also be introduced to application software or modern programming language that interacts with the business suite application and its data to allow for data analysis, management, and presentation for solving business problems.
Learning Outcomes1Identify and explain the main terminology, concepts, and design of a data-oriented business-suite application and the data it manages.
2Develop and implement data management solutions by creating application models, commands, and functions using a data-oriented business-suite application.
3Demonstrate proficiency in various types of data analysis and manipulation, including date/time functions, logical functions, conditional functions, statistical functions, financial functions, and analysis functions.
4Execute and evaluate advanced data management activities such as text manipulation, database functions, and macros to improve data workflows.
5Integrate and implement third-party data management applications with a data-oriented business-suite application to perform data analysis, management, and presentation, addressing complex business problems.
