This course will immerse students in both the foundational concepts of broadcasting and nuanced performance techniques necessary to take the craft to the next level as on-camera/on-air presenters. Through hands-on, experiential learning, students will refine existing journalistic and creative skills (such as prior reporting, video production, hosting, anchoring, or online media experience) and also develop new talents and portfolio pieces.

Learning Outcomes

1Produce on-camera segments that tell stories via studio, field, and social media.

2Apply technical and creative skills necessary to produce and air basic broadcast programming by completing assigned class projects.

3Comprehend, define, and analyze essential studio and broadcasting concepts by writing scripts to use in class practicals.
