Fall 2025 Lecture Practice Study Observation Lower DivisionThis is the first in a two-course sequence for first-year Veterinary Nursing students. This course will introduce students to the Veterinary Nursing program and profession focusing on new student integration, providing resources available on campus to facilitate student success, and entry-level professional skill development. Students will learn and apply professional attributes of the veterinary medical professional.
Learning Outcomes1Develop effective interpersonal communications skills to increase their ability to communicate within the veterinary medical team.
2Explore career options within the field of Veterinary Nursing.
3Cultivate a shared sense of community at Purdue through relationships with peers and instructors.
4Broaden awareness and knowledge of opportunities and challenges involved in veterinary nursing.
5Understand the importance of being engaged in veterinary nursing as a new student.
6Expand knowledge of the available resources offered by Purdue University, the College of Veterinary Medicine, and the Veterinary Nursing Program that facilitate student success.
7Demonstrate proper classroom etiquette and how to conduct oneself appropriately when interacting with faculty, academic advisors, DVM students, upperclassmen, and other members of the campus community.
