Fall 2025 Lecture Upper DivisionThis course is designed to provide students with a deeper understanding of variety of areas within Sport Management. Students will learn about youth, college and professional sport and the various ancillary roles and departments that are attached to each. Students will also engage in a focused book reading and current event reading to further understand the roles in sport.
Learning Outcomes1Develop group leadership skills through discussions and presentations.
2Acknowledge the historical ramification of the creation of the NCAA and of professional leagues how this impacts today's sport setting.
3Recognize the management functions that exist in a contemporary sport organization.
4Understand the major factors affecting today's world of professional, collegiate, and amateur sport.
5Develop a personal philosophy regarding organizations within the sport industry.
6Develop a greater knowledge of intercollegiate athletics administration.
7Acknowledge the historical, socio-cultural, and ethical factors facing today's college and professional sport.
