Fall 2025 Lecture Laboratory Credit By ExaminationUpper DivisionThrough a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical application, students will acquire the skills necessary to design and implement effective programs that promote overall student wellness. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of health, wellness, and physical education of school-aged children with and without disabilities: emphasizing the importance of inclusive instruction. Additionally, students in this course will examine the responsibilities and opportunities for teachers in supporting and enhancing student health, with an emphasis on developing effective strategies for creating a healthy and safe learning environment for everyone.
Learning Outcomes1Identify and explain how nutrition and common diseases promote health-related fitness and are associated with disease and injury prevention, for students with and without disabilities.
2Identify and explain how, basic functions and structures of human body systems, including human growth and development, basic motor skills, movement patterns, and physical activities, promote participation and responsible behaviors and safety in various physical activities for students with and without disabilities.
3Identify and describe the influence of family, peers, culture, media, technology, as well as student interpersonal relationships and communication, have on various health behaviors for students with and without disabilities.
4Assess, design, and perform evidence-based health, wellness, and physical education instruction, for students with and without disabilities in promoting their overall health and physical well-being.
