Spring 2025 Lecture Upper DivisionDepartmental CreditThis course focuses on becoming familiar with various laboratory techniques used in the analysis of earth and planetary materials and understanding what questions data products from these techniques can answer. This course will include discussion of the instruments and how they operate, as well as provide hands-on experience working in the lab and processing data.
Learning Outcomes1Become familiar with common laboratory analytical techniques used in earth and planetary science.
2Gain experience working with analytical instruments and the associated laboratory data.
3Propose a research topic, conduct a literature review, and design an original research project requiring use of coordinated analytical techniques.
