Fall 2025 Laboratory Lecture Upper DivisionAn examination of devices, algorithms, strategies, and standards used in smart manufacturing continuous process and control serves as the basis of this course. Concepts include Proportional, Integral, & Derivative Control (P&ID), loop modeling, transfer functions, PID design, implementation and tuning. Course laboratories focus on implementing and tuning systems using industry-grade hardware and devices.
Learning Outcomes1Explain the importance of control systems in the management of a continuous process.
2Apply fundamental control theory concepts and models to a process or continuous control scenario.
3Document process control applications, using recognized standards and symbology.
4Apply controller algorithms and tuning methods to refine the performance of control loops.
5Determine appropriate control architecture and hardware for single and multiple loop systems.
