Effective management of organizational resources in a coherent and seamless manner is necessary to realize a competitive advantage. By analyzing internal and external forces, students develop strategies to help a service organization realize its goals and objectives. Through the application of concepts, tools, and principles of strategy development and competitive advantage, this course emphasizes strategy formulation, implementation, and evaluation to ensure the long-term success of a service organization. The course is structured to enhance students' analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills by integrating their academic and experiential knowledge from previous functional courses such as accounting, finance, marketing, operations, human resources, etc.

Learning Outcomes

1Demonstrate through effective written and oral communication, the ability to conduct a strategic situational analysis of a service organization.

2Develop a business strategy for a service organization in response to a strategic situational analysis.

3Integrate and apply prior knowledge areas to propose functional strategies that align with the strategic vision of a service organization.
