Spring 2025 Laboratory Laboratory Preparation Lower DivisionLandscape architectural site design, an introduction into processes and products. Building on the introduction to graphics in LA 11600 this is an introduction to the processes and production of site design and development drawings. Recording, conceptualizing and presenting site design ideas through problem solving projects. Emphasis on hand and computer drafting and drawing skills to communicate design ideas. Permission of department required.
Learning Outcomes1Apply the fundamental tools and processes of design: spatial organizations and relationships, analytical tools and ordering principles.
2Demonstrate basic critical thinking, and a foundation of literacy in design and environmental ideas.
3Demonstrate the investigations and processes that lead to the formation of design concepts, and their realization as objects, plans and places.
4Make effective use of basic communication methods and the tools used in their making: diagrams, drawing, lettering, model making, speaking and writing.
5Articulate the roles, contributions and responsibilities of landscape architecture to society and to environmental health.
