Spring 2025 Lecture Lower DivisionOver the course of a year-long research experience, SPIRaL undergraduate researchers engage in original research to investigate how information literacy - in its many forms - can inform real-world solutions to contemporary information challenges, such as mis/disinformation. The second semester of SPIRaL builds upon the work completed in the previous semester. We will spend the first half of the semester analyzing the data collected last semester. We will then present our research approach, findings, and implications in various scholarly venues.
Learning Outcomes1Analyze data collected in semester 1 to investigate the role information literacy may play in addressing various information challenges.
2Present information literacy research (including methods/processes, findings, and insights) to diverse audiences and stakeholders (the SPIRaL research group, ILS researchers, Purdue campus).
3Employ a practice of reflection and act upon reflective insights to operate effectively on team-based research.
4Recognize the value of information literacy research in addressing information challenges that impact society.
