Spring 2025 Distance Learning Upper DivisionThis course is an in-depth look at ocular anatomy and physiology, use of exam equipment, diagnostic techniques, imaging, pharmacology, surgical instrument identification, cleaning, and care of instruments, surgical nursing, surgical procedures, anesthesia protocols and concerns that are associated with these procedures.

2Explain care and use of ophthalmic surgical instruments.
3Identify and locate ocular lesions.
4Explain anesthetic protocols for various ophthalmic surgeries.
5Explain the when, why, and how of advanced exam techniques including imaging.
6Identify commonly used ophthalmic medications and relate them to ocular physiology and the treatment of eye conditions.
7Comprehend proper equine restraint and sedation protocols.
8Describe an equine pre purchase exam.
9Compare and contrast "field" ophthalmology with "in clinic" ophthalmology.
