It is a theoretical class that utilizes both historical examples from previous military operations as well as current doctrine, developing an individual who is both a critical thinker and scholar in the profession of arms. The goal is to educate the student to read military history analytically.

2Describe specific successful amphibious-based maneuver warfare operations throughout Marine Corps history.
3Describe how amphibious warfare ties into general warfare, serving as a subset of total warfare.
4Perform an analysis of historical influences upon current tactical, operational and strategic implications of maneuver warfare practices used in current and future operations.
