Learning Outcomes1Explain the historical, cultural, and social contexts that influenced Victorian literature, including the effects of the Industrial Revolution, British imperialism, and the rise of the middle class.
2Analyze the structural and thematic elements of different Victorian genres such as the novel, the dramatic monologue, and the sensation novel.
3Evaluate scholarly interpretations of Victorian literature and engage in contemporary critical debates about its relevance to modern issues like colonialism, class, and sexuality.
