Fall 2026 Instructors:
Examines conceptions of what mathematics is and how those conceptions have influenced the mathematics curriculum over the course of American history. Prerequisite: Master's student standing or higher and enrolled in Mathematics Education.
Learning Outcomes1Develop perspectives on and communicate various theories or theoretical frameworks related to mathematics curriculum.
2Investigate and communicate a research based perspective on the underlying nature of curriculum.
3Develop and communicate a historical perspective on evolution of mathematics curriculum.
4Synthesize seminal and current research describing curriculum and curricular relationships in mathematics education.
