The great variety of Greek art, which helped lay the foundation of Western artistic tradition, is presented in several different media and over a period of several centuries. The social context and cultural context of Greek art, especially its humanistic values, is emphasized. Offered every two years.
Learning Outcomes1Learn how Greek art was formed and how it developed over a period of centuries from its origins in the Geometric period to its climax in the Hellenistic era.
2Gain a broad historical perspective and learn how to evaluate individual works of art, and to view them within a larger cultural and social context.
3Develop writing proficiency.
