Spring 2021 LectureCrystal imperfections, impurities and lattice defects. Magnetic properties: diamagnetic effects, paramagnetism, ferromagnetism, resonance phenomena. Ferroelectricity. Optical properties of metals and semiconductors; interband and intraband transitions, excitons, effects of crystal imperfections. Prerequisite: PHYS 64500. Permission of instructor required.
