Spring 2025 LectureExamines the impact of both psychological learning theories and instructional applications upon the development of various instructional design theories. Emphasis is on theory construction, influence of learning and educational principles, and the current and future possibilities of instructional design theory. Prerequisite: EDCI 53100 and 57200.
Learning Outcomes1Identify and consider the key principles and underlying assumptions from several prominent Instructional Design Theories and articulate relationships across these areas.
2Determine when, why, how, and under what conditions specific ID theoretical principles can be applied to resolve applied learning problems.
3Assess the effectiveness of specific ID theories, explain their individual strengths and weaknesses, and propose alternative viewpoints, guidelines, and perspectives to enhance learning given specific situations.
4Develop effective methods for analyzing and articulating sound and logical arguments regarding theoretical, instructional, and technological relationships, positions, and conceptualizations.
