The goal of this course is to present the concepts of dairy production medicine to prepare the student to formulate plans to solve herd problems. The topics of dairy cow nutrition (including ration balancing programs), calf nutrition and management, records analysis including the use of PCDart computer program, vaccination programs, and animal welfare evaluations. Additionally, students will be exposed to team troubleshooting and performing farm evaluations. Outside speakers may be used as content experts. Typically offered Spring Summer.
