Fall 2025 Lecture
A continuation of ECON 62000, with emphasis on empirical analysis and the application of theory to real-world situations. Topics covered include: empirical estimation of market structure, empirical tests of market conduct, the effect of anti-competitive behavior on economic performance, antitrust practice, regulation theory and practice, and experimental industrial economics. The material is selected from current journal articles. Prerequisite: ECON 62000.
Learning Outcomes1Understand methodological developments in the area of empirical Industrial Organization.
2Establish empirical models and test hypotheses derived from theory.
3Gain insights in data evaluation and apply statistical software.
4Derive, estimate, and interpret economic concepts such as market power, economies of scale and scope, price elasticities of demand, etc.
