Spring 2025 Lecture Upper DivisionInterpretation and correlation of the reactions and properties of inorganic compounds in terms of their electronic and molecular structures. A survey of the preparations and reactivities of important compounds of the representative elements, with an emphasis on group trends. The elementary chemistry of the transition metals, including magnetic and spectral properties of coordination compounds.
Learning Outcomes1Able to use theory to understand universal physical laws as they apply to chemistry.
2Able to demonstrate an understanding of the physical properties and a molecular understanding of chemical reactivity and materials.
3Able to develop problem-solving skills: identifying the objective.
4Able to plan and perform chemical transformations.
5Able to carry out calculation related to specific chemistry topics.
6Able to make connections between different courses/subdisciplines in chemistry.
