Spring 2026 Lecture Distance Learning Upper DivisionThis course aims to provide students with experience in airline revenue management applications. Primarily focusing on the commercial operation of airlines, this course covers various contemporary topics such as the segmentation, inventory control, forecasting, budgeting and pricing. This course will use simulations to enhance the overall learning-teaching experience.
Learning Outcomes1Summarize the development of revenue management in the airline industry, and explain the importance of revenue management to business operation of airlines.
2Interpret concepts such as segmentation, forecasting, budgeting, pricing, revenue management, and yield in the domain of the airlines industry and the broader hospitality sector.
3Evaluate pricing schemes used by airlines on different markets (for instance, long-haul & short-haul, domestic & international, competitive & dominant, peak season & low season) in real world.
4Implement inventory control in a simulated environment to respond to the dynamic and complex market conditions.
5Develop appropriate strategies to optimize revenue for a specific airline (either full-service carrier or low-cost carrier) in a certain market (simulated environment).
