Spring 2025 Instructors:

This course covers basic sampling design and analysis techniques. Sampling designs include: simple random, stratified, clustered, multi-staged, and systematic samples. Methods of estimation appropriate to design features and efficiency and costs related to sample design are covered.

Learning Outcomes

1Develop a basic understanding of probability and inferential theory underlying sampling statistics.

2Understand and apply complex sample design features to sampling plans.

3Apply proper statistical analyses to data collected using complex sample designs.

4Interpret statistical estimates and tests.

5Analyze data from complex samples using SAS, R, STATA or other software.
