Spring 2025 Lecture Upper DivisionThis course has been designed to help you learn how theories of human learning and motivation can be applied to the instructional process in order to make the process more effective, efficient, and/or appealing. The focus of the course is on two areas: 1) the theoretical principles that have contributed to the field of Instructional Design (ID), and 2) how those principles can be applied within practical settings.
Learning Outcomes1Identify, describe, and explain the basic tenets of behavioral, cognitive, and constructivist learning theories.
2Compare and contrast the contributions of various learning theories to the field of instructional design.
3Identify and describe the basic components within various motivational theories and their impact upon the learning process.
4Select appropriate principles derived from given theories and apply those within practical learning situations.
