Spring 2026 Instructors:
This course focuses on fundamental of molecular biology and biotechnology for environmental applications. The major topics include activated sludge processes, stoichiometry, bioenergetics, anaerobic digestion, biological nitrogen and phosphorus removal, molecular microbiology tools, biofouling, antibiotic resistance, viruses and biofuels.
Learning Outcomes1Understand the latest development in environmental biotechnology and their applications in contaminant removal and public health protection.
2Review relevant literature critically on selected topics in environmental biotechnology and identify areas for improvement.
3Deliver effective presentations.
