Study of the procedures and techniques essential to industrial measurement and transmission of data is provided in the areas of microprocessor control, process control, and automated testing. Concepts of hysteresis, repeatability, weighted signals, span, suppression, range, and closed loop control are emphasized.

Learning Outcomes

1Evaluate and select sensors for a given application based on relevant specifications.

2Select a data acquisition system based on the requirements of a given application.

3Explain how process gain, dead band, and lag affect the performance of a closed loop control system.

4Tune a closed loop PID controller.

Course MET 382 from Purdue University - West Lafayette.
