Spring 2025 Lecture Upper DivisionPhysiology and Nutrition During the Life Cycle explores the life stages of pregnancy, childhood, adulthood and older adulthood from physiological, social, and behavioral perspectives, focusing on the biological underpinnings of special nutritional needs for each life stage for optimal growth and development, maturation, aging, and overall health and well-being.
Learning Outcomes1Describe physiological, social and behavioral components involved with human growth and development, maturation, and aging, seen in the life stages of pregnancy, childhood, adulthood and older adulthood and the impact on nutrition and health.
2Describe special nutritional needs and recommended guidelines of the life stages of pregnancy, childhood, adulthood, and older adulthood.
3Locate, interpret, evaluate and use professional literature to make ethical evidence-based practice decisions.
4Use current information technologies to locate and apply evidence-based guidelines and protocols.
5Demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge of the role of environment, food, and lifestyle choices to develop interventions to affect change and enhance wellness in diverse individuals and groups throughout the life cycle.
