Spring 2025 Lecture Upper DivisionA study of the painting, sculpture and architecture of Italy between 1300 and 1545 AD, including artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael and Michelangelo. The course will also relate these works of art to the culture, religion, politics, economics and social life of the period.
Learning Outcomes1Identify paintings, sculptures and other artworks made in Italy between the 14th and 16th centuries.
2Discuss similarities and differences between works of art and between artistic styles.
3Place artworks within the proper historical context, explaining the connection between the objects and the social and cultural environment in which they were created.
4Explain in clear prose how works of art illustrate specific themes or ideas.
