Spring 2026 Studio Lower DivisionIntroduction to space planning methodology applied to small-scale residential and nonresidential environments. Human factors and user requirements, physical and psychological, will be emphasized. Interior materials, components, and special environmental concerns will be explored.
Learning Outcomes1Identify principles of human physiological, social, and psychological factors in the process of solving a specified design problem, as supported by evidence.
2Generate multiple solutions to solve a specified design problem, through ideation sketches, drawings, and models.
3Apply design elements and principles that support design concepts, including principles of spatial definitions and organization, to a specified design problem.
4Communicate ideas developed in the design process through written, graphic, and oral communication.
5Assess designed environments as an aesthetic art form within a functional environment.
