Investigation of visual communication design theory, history, skills, and methodology, as well as preparation of art and mechanicals for graphic arts reproduction.

Learning Outcomes

1Transition from fundamental design skills to advanced graphic design applications.

2Introduce layout/grid systems and their theoretical and practical applications.

3Introduce students to the fundamentals of typography, exploring the relationships between type and image.

4Increase proficiency in graphic software in the context of graphic design projects.

5Gain a better understanding of the history of graphic design.

6Develop more advanced problem-solving skills.

7Prepare students for the Sophomore Review, and advanced junior- and senior-level design courses.
