Spring 2026 LectureApplication of qualitative and quantitative research designs in counseling psychology. Concurrent prerequisite: EDPS 61800 and (PSY 60100 or STAT 50200) and Doctoral student standing enrolled in the Counseling Psychology Program.
Learning Outcomes1Gain knowledge of research methodologies in counseling psychology.
2Develop the ability to provide an evidentially based rationale for research, including consideration of multicultural issues.
3Display awareness of counseling psychology research.
4Demonstrate self-initiative and personal investment (a) in the research process and (b) in efforts to find and use relevant sources of information.
5Apply the scientific method in critiquing and generating research studies.
6Present research results in a manuscript that uses APA professional style.
7Enhance oral and written communication skills through presentation of material in a clear, organized, grammatically correct, and engaging manner.
8Develop professional writing and editing skills to prepare for careers as a counseling psychologist (e.g., scholarly contribution, reports).
