Spring 2026 LectureAdvanced study and clinical application of racial and cultural theories in counseling. Knowledge and practicum components are integrated to facilitate development of awareness and skill competencies central to "Guidelines on Multicultural Education, Training, Research, Practice and Organizational Change for Psychologists" of the American Psychological Association. Prerequisite: EDPS 50700. Permission of instructor required.
Learning Outcomes1Increase understanding of ICD dimensions, and their intersection within persons, in relation to psycho-social development.
2Identify and address institutional and social barriers that impede access, equity, and well-being for diverse populations.
3Develop advanced skill in discussing ICD, comfortably and appropriately, in interpersonal and professional relationships.
4Demonstrate awareness of potential interactions between cultural beliefs and attitudes and cognitive and affective experiences.
