Spring 2025 Lecture Distance Learning Upper DivisionThis course will address the professional and ethical responsibilities of behavior analysts. Key issues of responsible conduct as it relates to areas such as confidentiality, consent, consultation, treatment planning, and research will be discussed and applied through case studies. Learners will be able to apply ABA techniques within the bounds of both legal and ethical frameworks. Permission of instructor required.
Learning Outcomes1Demonstrate understanding of BACB guidelines for the responsible conduct of applied behavior analysis.
2Discuss scenarios involving ethical issues and describe appropriate solutions using BACB guidelines.
3Identify appropriate ethical practices in ABA research.
4Demonstrate and describe methods used to protect client/student confidentiality.
5Demonstrate understanding of empirically validated practices vs. pseudoscience and non- validated practices within the context of service delivery.
