Spring 2025 Lecture Upper DivisionCounseling strategies for multicultural and diverse populations encountered by helping professionals. Among the populations considered are ethnic and cultural minorities, older persons, the gifted, and the disabled.
Learning Outcomes1Examine how social and cultural factors influence the counseling relationship and are reflected in counseling theory and practice.
2Develop strategies for working with diverse individuals, couples, families, groups, and communities.
3Develop an awareness of multicultural and pluralistic trends, including characteristics and concerns of specific socially and culturally diverse groups.
4Examine ethical and legal issues related to counseling diverse populations.
