Spring 2025 Laboratory Lecture Upper DivisionData visualization is the art and science of putting quantitative numbers into pictorial or graphical format that are easy for users to understand, use, and take action upon the data. In this course, we will learn basic data visualization design principles, theories, data management skills, and fundamental web technologies to design and develop web based interactive date visualizations. The students will be able to design the proper visual representations of the data based on the data's characteristics, business needs, and prospective users.
Learning Outcomes1Demonstrate understating of different types of data, their characteristics, relations, and business purpose.
2Compare and choose proper visualization methods to represent the data based on the characteristic and purpose.
3Apply perception theories and design principles in visualization design.
4Utilize web toolkits and technologies to develop simple data visualization.
5Develop an interaction information visualization system to represent data from different aspects.
