Spring 2026 Lecture Upper DivisionAn overview of alcoholism and other chemical addictions. Students are given the information and experience necessary to present a five-hour drug abuse education program to the public and specifically middle school students. Course is taught by undergraduate pharmacy students with oversight by staff.
Learning Outcomes1Describe the pharmacology involved with classes and specific substances of abuse.
2Discuss aspects (i.e., social, genetic predisposition, intervention, treatment) associated with the disease of chemical addiction.
3Describe the role of the Pharmacist Recovery Network (PRN).
4Present a drug abuse/addition program (5 hours) to a class of sixth grade students.
